John Mittenthal and Jay Sterling have received a grant from the University Transportation Center for Alabama.  The grant, Development of a Multidisciplinary Transportation and Logistics Education Program, was funded for $40,695. (1/18/00)
  
Bunn and Savage Receive UTCA Award

Michele Bunn and Grant Savage have received a grant from the University Transportation Center for Alabama. The grant, Feasibility of an Integrated Traffic Management and Emergency Communication System for Birmingham, Alabama, was funded for $146,634.

The focus of the project is to create a coalition of stakeholders to develop a deployment plan for a location data platform on the networks of wireless carriers. The project also identifies opportunities for the development and marketing of applications to stimulate private sector investment.  (01/18/00)

Woodall Receives NSF Award

Bill Woodall has received a grant from the National Science Foundation. The project, Multivariate Methods for On-Line and Off-Line Quality Control and Improvement, was funded by the Design, Manufacturing and Industrial Innovation division of the Engineering Directorate.

The two-year project is in collaboration with Kwok-Leung Tsui at Georgia Tech. Woodall’s portion of the grant was funded for $83,932 from NSF. He also received $18,729 from the University bringing his total to $102,661.

Conerly, Gray and Mansfield Receive UTCA Award

Mike Conerly, Brian Gray, and Edd Mansfield together with Rocky Durrans from Environmental Engineering have received a grant from the University Transportation Center for Alabama. The one year grant, Data Mining and Visualization of the Alabama Accident Database, was funded for $55,553.

The objective of this project is to use existing multivariate data exploration tools, and possibly develop new customized statistical tools, to analyze the Alabama Accident Database for information that may lead to improved highway safety and possibly reduce the number and severity of traffic accidents.
